Announcement by Wies Berkhout, Fontys Dance alumna.

From next week on I will be vlogging for ‘Club Event Fremdkörper’ which is initiated and hosted by Fontys School of the Arts in Tilburg,  the Netherlands. I will take you along into all the preparations of this unique event.Every week there will be one vlog with an overview of the whole week. I will take you along and show you all the preparations for the 3rd edition of Fremdkorper. Have a peak into rehearsals and design sessions, the making of costume and visuals, get to know the makers and performers and we even show you footage of how things are going backstage during the club night!

About me

Wies graduated at FHK Dance Academy in 2015 with specialization in modern/dancetheatre. She worked with various choreographers such as Guilherme Miotto (Viragom, Mensch, Schau’n se mal um die ecke, In Memory of a projection), Katja Heitmann (Pandora’s Dropbox) and Marc van Loon (Trippin Angels productions, Gisela). After her graduation she stayed connected to the academy and started working more and more with choreographer Marc van Loon. This year the collaboration continues  within the 3rd edition of  Fremdkorper. Together with Marc van Loon, Jeroen Zellenrath (costume and makeup) & Maaike de Haard (Artcode: visuals) she will create and also perform in a new group performance inspired by her solo ‘Gisela’ which was shown at club event ‘Aus Berlin’ and at Nacht vd Kunsten 2016. Next to that, she will be vlogging and show you the things you always wanted to know about Fremdkorper!  Curious? Stay tuned!

About Fremdkörper, a Club Event.

(translated: ‘foreign element’, ‘the odd one that is not fitting in’),  is a clubevent and at the same time a performance night during which the party crowd is surrounded by 360 degree visual projection and sound. The crowd is never forced to watch the performances, is occasionally invited to ‘come and see’ or asked to make space for a performer. Performance and visuals in the regular club setting add to a sensation of being capsuled in a lovingly recreated (archetypical) dreamworld.Fremdkörper is performed by and with young students and graduates from Fontys School of the Arts in Tilburg: dancers from the Dance Academy, circus artists from the Academy for Circus and Performance Art (ACaPA), dj’s from the Rock academy and visual art students from Fontys Art, Communication and Design (ArtCoDe).After two previous editions of this party, we now have built a small repertory of very different colorful capsuled performances (movement, costume styling, visual and sound) that already have been invited to different events, outside locations and clubparty’s in the Netherlands (Paradiso Amsterdam, Club Sehnsucht at Amsterdam Dance Event, 24 Hrs Amsterdam, Incubate Tilburg, Night of the Arts, Tilburg, Museum De Pont Tilburg, etcetera).
