During the lecture on Dance for patients with Parkinson disease at ISP Prague, we mentioned one of the newest researches in the field of neuroscience: the mirror neurons, their function and use in therapeutic dance. Many of the students expressed a wish to know more about this subject. In this short talk the neuroscientist Vilayanur Ramachandran introduces functions of mirror neurons and how they allow us to learn complex social behaviours, some of which formed the foundations of human civilization as we know it.
